![]() ![]() In 1961, we had a motion-tracking headset. Back in the 1960s, there were immersive stereoscopic videos. While that seems like an overnight phenomenon, it’s far from it. well better.Virtual reality is mainstream. if you find something better (an index, vive pro 2) for a good price, that's always. imo it's ok to use one if you remove meta first. You must know for yourself whether you want a quest 2 or something else. all of this will require some tinkering but not too much. if you are extra paranoid, you can even block the quests connextion to the internet in your router, so it can only connect in your personalnetwork and not send home. i don't know if you need an oculus account when you first run oculess, but if you do, you can scatch it immediately afterwards. additionally all games that don't require the meta stuff and that are sideloadable, can still be played on mobile. wired PCVR with a link cable and wireless with virtual desktop should both still be possible, so you can just use the quest as a normal PCVR headset on steam. ![]() basically oculess is a hack or something, that can remove account requirements and a lot of other meta stuff like telemetry. I saw mention of a few realistically cheap headsets but could not find ANYWHERE to buy them. but I'm not buying anything owned by Facebook. I have a AMD Ryzen 7 27000x and a GTX 1060 6GB, which GPU wise seems like the minimum /recommend for most VR headsets.Īnyways, I want a budget headset, and I looked around. However I don't have the budget, nor do I think my PC can actually handle them tbh. ![]() I've noticed that the majority of them are $500+ with the most recommend one being the Index.
